Santa knew the girls didn't need any encouragement when it come to being naughty; so, he made sure to send us a nice elf (although I imagine she will get a little more mischievous as the girls get older). He warned the elf not to get caught too close to the floor or she may be mistaken for a doggy chew toy. With that in mind, here is what Lovey was up to at our house this month:
Dec 7: Lovey was so excited about the name Kylee gave her that she spelled it out with blocks. She wasn't sure yet if the girls understood the "no touch" rule. So, she built her chair up high on a shelf.
Dec 8: Lovey painted a heart for the girls, because (as Kylee explained) she loves them so much.
Dec 9: Kylee was sick. :( Lovey knew she'd be in bed most the day. So, she made herself a bed on the gutter shelf near Kylee's bed so that she could keep an eye on her.
Dec 10: Lovey got into my makeup! As Kylee pointed out to me, she wasn't being naughty; she just didn't know better. After convincing me of Lovey's innocence, Kylee explained to Lovey that you can't touch mommy's makeup without asking because "mommy needs it to be pretty for work."
Dec 11: Lovey took a ride on the wild side.
Dec 12: Lovey surprised the girls with breakfast (elf pancakes, snow covered donuts, Christmas candy, & chocolate milk) and a little note for being so good this week. By the time we woke up, Lovey had already eaten some of her breakfast and was washing it down with a jar of maple syrup.
Dec 13: Lovey was found sitting on a stack of Christmas movies, holding the remote, and watching the movie Elf.
Dec 14: Lovey heard us talking about candy canes and the letter 'J' and noticed that our tree was looking pretty bare. So, she covered the tree in candy canes.
and the kitchen!
Dec 16: Lovey preformed a taste test on our Christmas treats before we delivered to our neighbors.
Dec 17: We've been talking about joy and cheer this week. So, Lovey decided to add a little Christmas cheer to the girls' bedroom. She switched out some of their books for Christmas books, replaced the nightlight with a small pre-lit Christmas tree, and added a few girly Christmas decorations to the dresser and door.
Dec 18: Last night, we gave Lovey a new skirt. It must have made her feel like a princess, because in the morning we found her standing on top of the girls' castle, wearing Snow White's tiara, holding a wand, and petting a unicorn.
Dec 19: Video chat with Santa! Lovey also had a special video email for Kylee from Santa.
Dec 20: Lovey played a game of Candyland with Snow White. The girls thought this was hilarious!
Dec 21: The girls found Lovey hanging out on the shower shelf wrapped up in a towel. I can't believe I forgot to take a picture.
Dec 22: Yesterday Kylee gave Lovey 2 jumbo sized marshmallows to eat on her way back to the North Pole. I guess that was too much sugar for one tiny elf. Lovey was so hyper that we found her hanging upside down from the ceiling fan. Silly elf!
Dec 23: Christmas is getting close! The girls found Lovey in their play kitchen preparing a batch of magical reindeer food to help keep Santa's reindeer in flight Christmas eve night.
Dec 24: Christmas Eve morning! Our stockings are missing. So, Lovey surprised us with new ones. She's such a thoughtful little elf! :)
The girls have really enjoyed having Lovey (or "dubey" as Makenna calls her) around. Kylee talks to her daily and even preforms songs and dances for her. Makenna is always the first to wake and has been impressively quick at finding Lovey each morning. So much so that I haven't had time to grab my camera in time to get very many of her reactions. I did manage to get a few of Kylee's.
I LOVE Lovey!! What a sweet (and michevious) little elf! I can't wait for her friend to come visit us next year!
