The 2nd purple Advent candle stands for peace. Here is what we did this week:
Sunday: We added the 2nd purple candle to our wreath. Then we brainstormed ways to make ourselves feel peaceful and calm. Kylee suggested petting the dogs and breathing in and out. We practiced taking deep, calming breaths. Next we talked about ways to act peacefully and get along with others.
The girls got a letter from Santa thanking them for the visit and informing them that he would be sending one of his elves to watch them and make sure they are being nice and acting in peaceful ways. Kylee was ecstatic to hear the news about the elf!
Monday: Our elf arrived! She brought with her a short note to the girls, a book explaining the Elf on the Shelf laws and procedures, and a toy elf for them to play with (since they aren't allowed to touch their "real" elf). Kylee was just barely awake when Makenna pointed out their elf sitting on the mantel. The sight of her elf woke Kylee up quick. She was elated! Kylee named the elf "Lovey". She talked to Lovey throughout the day and couldn't resist getting just as close as she could without touching. We had several visitors today, and the first thing Kylee did when each one walked in the door was introduce him/her to Lovey. "Come look! Come look! It's my elf! My real elf! Come meet Lovey!" she exclaimed. She whole heartily believes in the magic of her elf and couldn't be more excited.
Teusday: Today we talked about a key component to keeping the peace amongst little ones: sharing! We watched the Veggietales video Lyle the Kindly Viking King: A Lesson in Sharing.
Thursday: sick day :(
Friday: I pointed out that police officers help keep the peace in our community. The girls baked cookies for daddy and the other police officers on his shift.
Saturday: We talked about the fact that God give us peace in our hearts and that believing in him helps us feel safe. We read John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Then Kylee watched Veggietales: Where's God When I'm S-scared?

AWESOME! Fill me in on all the place you find Lovey :) I get to live vicariously through you
