Preschool Prep

Over the summer Kylee expressed some anxiety about going back to school. So, I tried my best to get her pumped up for Pre-K. I took every opportunity I could to show my enthusiasm about school (particularly preschool) and point out the awesomeness of Pre-K.

We went to Open House the Friday before school started. Kylee got to explore her classroom (just 1 door down from her classroom last year) and color the place mat that she will be using at lunch time. Her teacher (who seems awesome so far) had a parent meeting where she explained some of her teaching methods (which I love) and gave us a copy of the daily schedule (which looks pretty perfect). There are only about 10 kids in the class. Two of them are friends from her class last year (she went to the 3yr old program 2 half days a week).

That weekend we read lots of going to school books (The Night Before Preschool, Preschool Day Hooray, Spot Goes to School, The Bernstein Bears Go to School, Froggy Goes to School, The Kissing Hand, etc). Kylee got to pick out all new school gear. She choose insisted on everything ballerina.

The morning of the big day, I set up a celebratory breakfast to help get the enthusiasm going.
